Day +4
Sunday, Oct. 13: Quite an eventful day….woke up to a platelet count of 6 and hemoglobin 7.2 so was given platelets. Had a fever so they had to take additional labs to rule out an infection. The bummer about this is that they do a peripheral blood draw as well as a draw from the picc line. He prefers they use the picc line as he is a tough blood draw. His abdominal pain has continued throughout the day and night so has been given a “menu” of anti-nausea, something to help with the abdominal discomfort and pain. There are multiple things they have been able to give him for the nausea and abdominal discomfort and they seem to be working but at times his pain is in the 9-10 range. Was given a chest x-ray to rule out an infection in the lungs and this came back negative, which is great! Small win, but still a win. Not getting much OOB(out of bed) time as the pain is keeping him in a lying down position, however he is able to get up to use the bathroom. Another small win!
