Day +10

Saturday, October 19: Woke up to Platelets being the lowest ever! Can you guess what that is? Platelets: 1 Hemo: 6.3. Another fever upon waking. If you aren’t aware, one cannot receive platelets if they have a fever as the fever will deplete them. So the goal is no fevers for many reasons. During the course of the day was transfused with platelets and 2 units of hemoglobin. Magnesium and Potassium are low. Significant increase in output; one of them was 900 ml, or 30 ounces and in culinary terms, “almost a quart”. Lastnight’s fever got to 102.9, yes, that’s right, 102.9…not good, the machine even gave a warning. Guess what this means as far as testing goes……yes, another blood draw. Grateful to have Laura, our nurse from previous days working nearby. She was successful with another blood draw! Another win to celebrate! Lots of hydration throughout the day; apple juice, gatorade and Sprite. Water is boring right now…only until the alkaline water arrives. Thank you Eddie & Malia for making sure it’s stocked!
