Day +11

First of all, the significance of Day +11 is that it is the last day of chemo. It is the last dose of the Methotrexate.

It was another eventful night with fevers off/on throughout the night. Woke to needing platelets. Platelets: 5 Hemo: 7.2. A new antibiotic was given last night to help combat the potential bacterial infection that was continuing to develop. When doctors did their rounds this morning they said that the new antibiotic was on hold as it should not be given when using the Methotrexate and as we know this is the final dose of the chemo and needs to be administered today as per the protocol.

The Team here has been great and they really are trying to get to the bottom of the cause of these significant amount of fevers. There are many things that could be going on but they say it is too early for GVHD. There are other potential reasons that are being tested. Had to get an abdominal CT today to look at the gut and get a better idea of what things are looking like. Also had to have blood drawn again; this time once in each arm. Awaiting results. As far as appetite….none really…but gotta try to get something down. Gave oatmeal another try….ate about 1/3 of a bowl and 1/2 of a protein drink. No lunch…slept through. For dinner, attempted meatloaf, minus the sauce and mashed potatoes…no go on the meatloaf..a few mashed potatoes down.

Just downed 3/4 of a protein shake over ice and it activated something in the gut…

Fatigue, fatigue, fatigue….it is real! No energy to get up and walk…goal for tomorrow is to get out of bed and try to do 1 lap, or even a half.
